Engineering Technician II #529

RT&T, a joint venture of InDyne, Inc. and Amentum Services, Inc. is the prime contractor to support the Atlantic Range Technical Support Services (ARTSS) for the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD) headquartered in Patuxent River, MD, and with locations in Maryland, Virginia, and California.

ARTSS supports Atlantic Test Ranges (ATR) and Atlantic Targets and Marine Operations (ATMO) in research and development, engineering, maintenance, operation, support of facilities, systems, and equipment in order to meet the engineering development and operational testing and fleet training missions for some of the world’s premier systems. Our work with the U.S. Navy keeps the warfighter safe by testing systems before they are used in combat, and we are hiring personnel to support this important mission.

Engineering Technician II

Works on BQM-177A Aerial targets and various types of electronic equipment, ordnance and related devices by performing one or a combination of the following: removing, installing, maintaining, repairing, overhauling, troubleshooting, equipment testing and scheduled/unscheduled maintenance. Apply general knowledge and judgement to solve problems in determining work sequence and selecting tools and testing equipment. Candidate will receive technical guidance as required, from supervisor, or higher- level technicians and work is reviewed for specific compliance with accepted practices and work assignments. Maintains associated support equipment, repairs, inspects, troubleshoots, prepares or applies maintenance specifications, standards or procedures using provided Technical Publications. This position is for basic level technicians with opportunities to progress to higher levels.

General Functions

  • Responsibilities to include launch/ recovery and decontamination of the BQM-177A and maintenance on aerial target mechanical/electrical systems.
  • Applicants must be able to perform said duties with minimal supervision.
  • Candidate can expect to be trained to participate in functions beyond normal operations.

Other Requirements/ Experience/ Skills

  • Proper tools and their uses (IE… volt meters, power tools, simple hand tools)
  • Installs electronic components following predetermined methods and criteria.
  • Adjust, repair and modify system using Naval and industry publications which include maintenance procedures, diagrams, schematics and local Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Remove and or replaces malfunctioning units as directed.
  • Setup and operate standard electronic testing equipment.
  • Require at least 2 years of experience performing stated functions.
  • Ability to travel 20-30% of the year, from one to six weeks at a time.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US Passport and DOD Secret Security Clearance.
  • Possess valid state driver’s license, Commercial Driver License is a plus.
  • All candidates will be required to pass random drug testing.
  • Electronic/Electrical/Mechanical maintenance experience of any kind preferred.

Education Required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent. Trade school training a plus.
  • Professional certifications/licenses a plus

Work conditions:

Conditions will vary. Most work performed in enclosed buildings, some outside work in all types of weather or on ships. Work will include sitting, standing, walking, lifting and reaching. Candidate must be capable of lifting 50 lbs, 50 - 100 lbs. assisted by another employee.

Clearance Requirements:

  • Currently hold or be able to obtain and maintain the proper US DoD issued TS security clearance, which requires US Citizenship. Security clearance eligibility may be discussed during the interview phase.
  • Employment and start date is contingent upon the candidate receiving the required US DoD issued interim security clearance
